Wildfires in Israel burned near Jerusalem for the second day in a row
According to Aljazeera ,Israel’s firefighting team said that 163 teams on the ground and 12 airplanes were working to stop the fire.
Police have reported the reopening of several major roads that had been closed due to wildfires near Jerusalem, which Israeli firefighting teams have been battling for the second day.
Police had to close the roads and evacuate thousands of people from the surrounding areas after the fires started on Wednesday along the main highway connecting Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.
According to Israel’s fire department, 12 planes and 163 ground crews were attempting to put out the fire.
According to rescue organization Magen David Adom, 23 people were treated on Wednesday, primarily for burns and smoke inhalation.
Israel’s public broadcaster Kan reports that 17 firefighters have also been hurt.
According to police, crews worked through the night to reopen major roads, including the route between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.
